Description

Xbira (Abiraterone Acetate) tablet is used in men to treat the cancer of the prostate

gland. It is not known if Xbira is safe for use in women or children. This medicine should

not be taken on an empty stomach.

Pharmacodynamics

Abiraterone acetate (Zytiga) is converted in vivo to abiraterone, which is an androgen

biosynthesis inhibitor. It inhibits 17α-hydroxylase/C17,20-lyase (CYP17). This enzyme is

expressed in testicular, adrenal, and prostatic tumor tissues. It is required for androgen

biosynthesis.
