Overview

Tenvir (Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate) tablet is used in the treatment of HIV (Human immunodeficiency virus) infection. This medication helps to reduce the amount of HIV in your body and improves the quality of life. It boosts your immune system to fight against infection and prevents the virus from multiplying. It increases the CD4 cell (white blood cells that protect against infection) count in your blood. Do not take this medicine in the wrong way as it may lead to some serious side effects. If you experience any signs and symptoms while receiving this medicine, inform your doctor immediately.

Pharmacodynamics

Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate is an acyclic nucleoside phosphonate diester analog of adenosine monophosphate. It requires initial diester hydrolysis for conversion to tenofovir and subsequent phosphorylations by cellular enzymes to form tenofovir diphosphate. Tenofovir diphosphate works to inhibit the activity of HIV-1 RT by competing with the natural substrate deoxyadenosine 5′-triphosphate and, after incorporation into DNA, by DNA chain termination. It is a weak inhibitor of mammalian DNA polymerases alpha, beta, and mitochondrial DNA polymerase gamma.

Usage

Tenvir tablet contains Dolutegravir as an active ingredient. This medication is not a permanent cure for HIV infection. It only prevents the multiplication of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infection in human cells. The recommended dose of Tenvir medicine is decided by a doctor according to your previous medical condition and response to the treatment. It is important to take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. It is advisable not to change your regular dosing schedule without taking suggestions from your doctor.
