Overview
Sprycel (Dasatinib) tablet is used for the treatment of blood cancer. It belongs to a class of medications known as a protein-tyrosine kinase inhibitor. This medicine works by blocking the action of the abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. It is important to take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. The recommended dose of Sprycel tablet is decided by a doctor according to your previous medical condition and response to the treatment. Close monitoring of blood cell count is required while having treatment with this medicine. It is advisable not to change your regular dosing schedule without taking suggestions from your doctor.
Pharmacodynamics
Dasatinib inhibited the growth of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) cell lines overexpressing BCR-ABL. Under the conditions of the assays, Dasatinib was able to overcome imatinib resistance resulting from BCR-ABL kinase domain mutations, activation of alternate signaling pathways involving the SRC family kinases (LYN, HCK), and multi-drug resistance gene overexpression. After the oral administration, the effect of this medicine can be observed between 1 to 6 hours.
Usage
Sprycel medicine is also used in the treatment of Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL), a type of white blood cell cancer. It helps to prevent the growth of cancer cells. Take this medicine orally with or without food. Do not take this medicine in the wrong way as it may lead to some severe side effects. If you experience any signs and symptoms while receiving this medicine, inform your doctor immediately. Do not take a Sprycel tablet if you are pregnant.
