Overview
Imarech contains Imatinib mesylate as an active ingredient and this tablet belongs to a class of medication known as tyrosine kinase inhibitors. This medication is used for the treatment of a type of blood cancer known as CML (chronic myeloid leukemia) ALL (Acute lymphocytic leukemia) and gastrointestinal stromal tumor. Imarech tablet inhibits the proliferation and induces apoptosis (planned cell death) in BCR-ABL positive cells (cancer cells). Do not stop the dosage of Imarech tablets without taking permission from your physician.
Pharmacodynamics
Imatinib is an antineoplastic agent and a protein-tyrosine kinase inhibitor that inhibits the BCR-ABL tyrosine kinase, and it works as a specific inhibitor of several tyrosine kinase enzymes. Chronic myelogenous leukemia is associated with the Philadelphia chromosome promoting the generation of BCR-ABL (mutation, which results from the combination of two genes, known as BCR and ABL). BCR-ABL generates a fusion protein that acts as a constitutively active tyrosine kinase and imatinib works to inhibit this constitutive enzymatic activity.
