Overview
Dasakast is an anticancer formulation comprising Dasatinib. It belongs to the class of small molecule antineoplastic breakpoint cluster region-abelson (BCR-ABL) inhibitors. This medicine is used in the treatment of Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL). Dasakast is administered as an oral-use tablet with a glass of water. It should be taken in the same strength as prescribed by your medical practitioner. The medication should never be missed or overdosed on unless recommended by your GP.
Pharmacodynamics
Dasatinib, at nanomolar concentrations, represses the latter kinases: BCR-ABL, SRC family (SRC, LCK, YES, FYN), c-KIT, EPHA2, and PDGFRβ. Based on modeling studies, dasatinib is predicted to bind to varied conformations of the ABL kinase. In vitro, dasatinib was active in leukemic cell lines denoting variants of imatinib mesylate sensitive and resistant condition. The compound hindered the growth of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) cell lines overexpressing BCR-ABL.
