Mode of Action of Bicatero (Bicalutamide)

Bicatero is an anti-cancer drug which works by blocking the effect of the natural male hormones (testosterone) on the growth of prostate cells. This stops the tumor from growing, spreading and also leads to the reduction of its size. Bicatero is also used in combination therapy with radiotherapy or prostate surgery in early stages of the treatment.

Serious side effects of Bicatero:

  • Liver problems marked by yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice), dark urine/Hepatic failure
  • Right upper stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, tiredness, loss of appetite, chills, fever
  • Bleeding problems
  • Breast enlargement (gynecomastia) and breast pain
  • Blood sugar problems
  • Serious allergic reactions like swelling of the face, lips, tongue, throat, which may cause difficulties in swallowing or breathing or severe itching of the skin with raised lumps.
  • Serious breathlessness, possibly with a cough or fever.
  • Inflammation of the lungs

Store Bicatero at 15-25ºC (59-77°F) away from excess heat and light.

Do not drive under the administration of the medicine as it may cause dizziness or drowsy.

Bicatero is not safe for use in pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, or children, medical consultation is essential before starting the treatment with Bicatero.

Patients with a history of diabetes mellitus should monitor glucose levels on a regular interval.

Do not donate sperm during the administration of the medicine.
