Overview 

Alecensa is a prescribed medicine used to treat people with non-small cell lung cancer that has spread from your lungs to other parts of your body and is caused by an abnormal anaplastic lymphoma kinase ALK gene.  Alecensa contains the active drug alectinib, which is an ALK inhibitor. This type of drug is commonly used to treat specific types of cancer. This medicine comes in the form of capsules that are taken orally twice a day with food.

Pharmacodynamics Of Alecensa (Alectinib)

When taken with food, Alecensa reaches peak concentrations approximately 4 hours after dosing. It is metabolized by CYP3A4 to the active metabolite M4. Alecensa targets downstream communication and protein signaling that results from ALK phosphorylation and ALK mediated activation.

Alecensa comes in the form of capsules that are taken by mouth. It should be taken twice a day with food.

Missed Dose 

  • In case you miss a dose immediately contact your doctor. Do not double the dosage to make up for the missed dose.

Overdose 

  • Emergency medical treatment required or contact your doctor in case of an overdose.
