Overview

Abiracine (Abiraterone Acetate) tablet is used in the treatment of prostate cancer. It belongs to a class of medication known as androgen biosynthesis inhibitors. This medication works by restructuring the activity of anti-testosterone and helps to stop the multiplication of cancer cells. It is important to take Abiracine tablet as prescribed by your doctor. The recommended dose of Abiracine tablet is decided by a doctor according to your previous medical condition and response to the treatment. If you experience any signs and symptoms while receiving Abiracine medication, inform your doctor immediately.

Pharmacodynamics

Abiraterone Acetate is associated with decreases in PSA (Prostate-specific antigen) levels, tumor shrinkage (as evaluated by RECIST criteria), radiographic regression of bone metastases, and improvement in pain. Abiraterone Acetate selectively and irreversibly inhibits CYP17, an enzyme required for androgen biosynthesis which is expressed in testicular, adrenal, and prostatic tumor tissues. Inhibits the formation of the testosterone precursors dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) and androstenedione.

Usage

Abiracine is an anti-cancer medication and this medication works by blocking the activity of an enzyme (CYP17) that is responsible for the production of androgen. It helps to slow down the multiplication of cancer cells. Do not take Abiracine tablet in the wrong way as it may lead to some serious side effects. It is advised not to change your regular dosing schedule without taking suggestions from your doctor. This medication is not recommended for use in children and women.
