Usage
The malecot flower design is primarily suited for the drainage of thick viscous fluids. This product is used for the percutaneous placement of a malecot catheter in the renal pelvis for nephrostomy drainage.
The Suprapubic/Malecot Catheter is used in the following conditions:
- urinary retention
- urinary incontinence
- pelvic organ prolapse
- spinal injuries or trauma
- lower body paralysis
- multiple sclerosis
- Parkinson’s disease
- benign prostatic hyperplasia
- bladder cancer
Adverse Events
The Suprapubic/Malecot Catheter can cause the following adverse events after use:
- urine not draining properly
- high fever
- abnormal abdominal pain
- infection
- discharge from the insertion area
- internal bleeding or hemorrhage
- urine leaking out of the catheter
- a hole in the bowel area
- stones or small pieces of tissue in the urine
- small amounts of blood in the urine
- discharge from urethra
