Overview

Tafero EM  tablet is a combination of two anti-HIV medicines: Emtricitabine and Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate. This medication is used for the treatment of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infection. It belongs to a class of medication known as nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs). Tafero EM tablet boosts your immune system to fight against infection and prevents the virus from multiplying. It increases the CD4 cell (white blood cells that protect against infection) count in your blood. It is important to take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. It is advised not to change your regular dosing schedule without taking suggestions from your doctor.

Pharmacodynamics

Emtricitabine (Tafero EM):- a synthetic nucleoside analog of cytidine, is phosphorylated by cellular enzymes to form emtricitabine 5′-triphosphate. Emtricitabine inhibits the activity of the HIV-1 reverse transcriptase (RT) by competing with the natural substrate deoxycytidine 5′-triphosphate and by being incorporated into nascent viral DNA which results in chain termination.

Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate (Tafero EM):- Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate is an acyclic nucleoside phosphonate diester analog of adenosine monophosphate. It requires initial diester hydrolysis for conversion to tenofovir and subsequent phosphorylations by cellular enzymes to form tenofovir diphosphate. Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate inhibits the activity of HIV-1 RT by competing with the natural substrate deoxyadenosine 5′-triphosphate and, after incorporation into DNA, by DNA chain termination.

Usage

Tafero EM (Emtricitabine and Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate) tablet is a combination of two antiretroviral medications. It helps to delay the production of HIV infection and improves the quality of life. This medication is not a permanent cure for HIV infection. It only prevents the multiplication of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infection in human cells. The recommended dose of Tafero EM medicine is decided by a doctor according to your previous medical condition and response to the treatment. Do not take this medicine in the wrong way as it may lead to some serious side effects. If you experience any signs and symptoms while receiving Tafero EM tablet, inform your doctor immediately.
