Description
Opdivo (nivolumab) is a prescription medicine used to treat people with certain cancers (lung cancer, liver cancer, skin cancer, head and neck cancer). This medication is also used to treat people with a type of advanced-stage lung cancer that has spread or grown and you have tried chemotherapy and it did not work.
Pharmacodynamics Of Opdivo Injection
A dose ranges from 0.1mg to 20mg administered as a single dose or multiple doses of opdivo (nivolumab) as a 60 minutes intravenous infusion every 2 to 3 weeks. The predicted exposure of opdivo after a 30 minutes infusion is comparable to 60 minutes infusion.
Opdivo (Nivolumab) Indications
- It is indicated for metastatic small cell lung cancer in patients with progression after platinum-based chemotherapy.
- Indicated for patients with poor-risk, previously untreated advanced renal cell carcinoma.
- Indicated for melanoma in patients with lymph node involvement.

Usage Of Opdivo (Nivolumab)
Opdivo (nivolumab) medicine is used to treat people with a type of skin cancer called melanoma that has spread or cannot be removed by surgery. It is also used when your head and neck, bladder, small- cell lung cancer has come back or spread and you have tried chemotherapy that contains platinum and it did not work or no longer is working.
Warnings And Precautions
- Immune-mediated adverse reactions ( diarrhea, pneumonitis, renal dysfunction) which may be severe, can occur in any organ system or tissue.
- Monitor for signs and symptoms of adrenal insufficiency during and after treatment.
- Severe infusion-related reactions can occur.
- May cause harm when administered to pregnant females.
- When used in combination with ipilimumab, refer to prescribing information for additional risk information that applies to the combination use treatment.
- May cause type 1 diabetes.
