“Pemetrexed” is the Drug / Molecule content in “Pemnat”. Pemnat belongs to a class of medications called antifolate antineoplastic agents.It works by inhibiting enzymes used in purineand pyrimidine synthesis, thus inhibiting the formation of precursor purine and pyrimidine nucleotides, in turn prevents the formation of DNA and RNA, which are required for the growth and survival of both normal cells and cancer cells.

Indication

Pemnat is used for the treatment of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSLC). It is also used for malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM), which is a cancer that affects the inside lining of the chest cavity and cannot be treated with surgery.

Note

Precaution

  • Premedication regimen: Supplementation with oral folic acid and intramuscular vitamin B12, to reduce the severity of hematologic and gastrointestinal toxicity of Pemnat.
  • Pemnat are prescription drug and should be used under proper medical guidance and advice.
