Esbriet is used to treat mild to moderate forms of a certain lung disease called Idiopathic pulmonary fifrosis (IPF).

“Esbriet” contains the Drug / Molecule called “Pirfenidone”. Esbriet exhibits both anti-inflammatory and antifibrotic effects. Esbriet reduces fibroblast proliferation inhibits TGF-β stimulated collagen production and reduces the production of fibrogenic mediators such as TGF-β. Esbriet also been shown to reduce production of inflammatory mediators such as TNF-α and IL-1β in both cultured cells and isolated human peripheral blood mononuclear cells.
“Pirfenex” is generic version of “Esbrite” and both contain same Drug / Molecule “Pirfenidone”.
